CPP Super Chevy Week To Wicked: 1955 Chevy—Day 4

Day 4 recap. Today was about assembling the front end, knocking out more wiring, and adding trim. But, the biggest deal today was installing the TMI interior. Yea, what would normally take months at a custom interior shop will be accomplished in mere hours by the guys at TMI. Tomorrow we will continue the wiring dance, plumb the cooling system, add the front fenders (along with the trim), and start getting the car ready to fire.

CPP Super Chevy Week To Wicked: 1955 Chevy—Day 3

Day 3 recap. Day 3 is all about the little things that need to be done, but don’t make you feel closer to having the car on the road. Number one on the list of necessary, but somewhat tedious, tasks is wiring. Yep, it needs to be done and it needs to be done right, but it’s certainly not as exciting as dropping in big parts like the engine. Our goal for today, and it will happen before anyone leaves our MotorTrend Tech Center, is to have the body mated to the chassis. It might happen at midnight or in the wee hours of the morning, but it will happen today so we can stay on schedule.

CPP Super Chevy Week To Wicked: 1955 Chevy—Day 2

Day 2 recap. Today was all about bolting on parts. While one team tackled the chassis the other one worked on doing projects on the body such as the Old Air Products A/C system and the Painless wiring. Our goals for today were to have the chassis finished with the brakes and fuel system plumbed and the LT1 and Magnum sitting in place. That will leave day 3 for more wiring, some wiring, and even more wiring.

Porsche/Coca-Cola Livery Reveal for IMSA Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

“Coke is it!” That familiar slogan adorned the sides of IMSA legend Bob Akin’s Porsche race cars from 1980 through 1987, along with unmistakable Coca-Cola red paint scheme and the white Coke “wave.” It’s one of the most iconic liveries in IMSA history – and it’s making a comeback. The pair of IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Le Mans (GTLM) class-leading Porsche 911 RSR race cars will wear the livery for Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Oct. 9-12. The 10-hour race serves as the season finale for both the WeatherTech Championship and the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup. Tune in on NBC at 12 pm ET on Saturday October 12 to catch all the action!

CPP Super Chevy Week To Wicked: 1955 Chevy—Day 1

Day 1 recap. This time around we’re building a sweet “1955” Chevy. Why the quotes? Well, our ’55 body was crafted together out of new sheetmetal from Golden Star and will be sitting on a completely aftermarket chassis provided by CPP. So we have a week to turn a trimmed out and glass-filled shell into a running driving ride. It’s a lot of work, but we dig a challenge.

Everyone needs a vacation and on this episode of Roadkill Garage, David Freiburger and Steve Dulcich take a break from their everyday grind to do exactly what they love doing day in and day out anyway. Dulcich recently bought a new project vehicle in Arizona: a ’73 Triumph TR6, and the guys have decided to take the Mopar Muscle Truck (MMT) to go pick it up…only problem, it needs a new engine first because Dulcich blew up the 408ci small-block that was in it. After replacing the 408 with a 318, the guys test drive it and conclude it’s probably best to road trip to Arizona in the Ford Muscle Truck (FMT) to pick up the TR6 instead. Why do the guys ditch the MMT for the FMT? Find out on this episode of Roadkill Garage.

Day 4 Recap. Today we're going to jump into more wiring, interior, steering column, and a bunch more things! We've removed the back seat of the car. In 1960's drag cars, there was no reason to have a back seat in it and with the roll cage you're not really going to be able to get into it anyways. Christian and Jeff are getting the steering column ready and mounted in the car. Zach is putting the window felt in, you pinch it and push it into the track so that window doesn't vibrate around and hit the metal door frame. For the final touch, we add the wheels and tires.

It’s good to be rich, now more than ever. But with so many brand-new supercars out there, do you really need to replace your 991.1 GT3 RS with the 991.2 version? Actually yes, you do, but that’s beside the point. Maybe what you really need is something old made new—something you loved decades ago that has been re-created for today. Enter the MAT New Stratos, for all intents and purposes a Ferrari F430 Scuderia with nearly 8-inches chopped from the wheelbase. It should handle like a 540hp go-kart, right? Though what if you wanted your retromod whip to be a bit heavier on the retro? How about the Superformance GT40? Fully 75 percent of the parts will swap into a 1960s GT40 (yes—the same cars Matt Damon just made a movie about), only this one has a 640hp supercharged Coyote V-8! But what if both cars are just nostalgic cash grabs? What if a modern supercar is actually the smarter buy? On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jethro Bovingdon and Jonny Lieberman set out to see if the mighty Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has finally met a car it can’t beat. Ever since its first comparison test, the Ferrari-engined sport sedan has laid waste to the competition. For a very good reason, too: the 505hp Italian is the real deal. Enter Jaguar’s bonkers Project 8. There’s a run of the mill XW sedan lurking somewhere underneath, but you’d be hard-pressed to say where, as 80 percent of the Project 8’s hardware is new. Most importantly, there’s a 592hp supercharged V-8 lurking below all that custom carbon-fiber body work and a trick AWD system and fancy racing suspension, too.
