……………………………………………………. This is the BMW M5 CS… And it just might be the greatest BMW M car EVER created! But what makes it so special, we hear you ask? Well for starters, the output of the engine compared to the normal M5 Competition has been improved. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 housed under the bonnet now produces 635hp – so 10hp more than the M5 Competition. Doesn’t sound like much? Well trust us, we’re only getting started! Along with receiving carbon ceramics as standard, there are a number of chassis upgrades, such as being fitted with adaptive dampers from the M8. And of course, let’s not forget that there is a whole load of carbon throughout this car, including the roof & bonnet, so as a result, it only weighs 1,825kg! ……………………………………………………. Is the Hyundai i20 N the best small hot hatch you can buy in 2021? Well, Mat’s here to find out! For starters, let’s take a look at what you get with the N version of the i20. Upfront under the bonnet you’ll find a 1.6-litre 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which can deliver 204hp & 275Nm of torque. And just like the normal edition, it comes with a manual gearbox. But of course, that’s not all! There’s a whole load of styling updates both inside and out, including a whole new front bumper & special N grille, and even a roof spoiler (although the aerodynamic benefits remain to be seen…)! What’s more, you even get a set of bespoke tyres designed just for this car. Let’s face it though, the i20 N has got some stiff opposition in the small hot hatch market, with the likes of the GR Yaris & Fiesta ST reigning supreme! We've brought in the Porsche 911 GT3 RS to go up against the new 992 GT3 to see which is the true king over the quarter-mile! Sure, you'd probably rather be in one of these going around a track, but we had access to both of them at the same time, so of course, we had to drag race them! When it comes to the specs, these two are remarkably similar. Starting with Mat in the GT3 RS, it's powered by a 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six which can put down 520hp & 470Nm. It also comes equipped with a dual-clutch gearbox and drives the rear wheels only. As for the new GT3… Well, it's also powered by a 4-litre NA flat-six, although it only produces 510hp! However, it produces the same amount of torque, and it comes equipped with the same gearbox as the RS. So, they're oh-so-similar, but which do you think will be first to the chequered flag?! Now you might be looking at this line-up and thinking it’s a pointless race. However, once we delve a bit deeper at the specs, you’ll see this race might be a bit closer than you thought! Starting off with the Golf R, it’s powered by a 2-litre 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that can deliver 320hp & 420Nm of torque. It’s relatively light, too, weighing in at 1,550kg. Then we have the Audi, which has double the number of cylinders under the bonnet, where it houses a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that puts down 507hp and 770Nm of torque. It’s also oh-so-much heavier than the Golf, tipping the scales at 2,250kg! So sure, the Audi has way more power, but it’s also 700kg heavier! And more importantly, while the Golf will set you back £40,000, it’s only half the price of the Audi! So is it worth paying so much more for that extra power? We’ve got a 1600hp Nissan GT-R going head-to-head with a 1200hp Audi R8 & a 1,100hp McLaren 720S… And trust us, it’s absolutely EPIC! So let’s run through the stats. First up we’ve got Mat in the GT-R, which would normally have a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6… But it’s had a full engine rebuild and it’s now packing a 4.1-litre twin-turbo V6 which delivers a humungous 1,600hp & 1,500Nm!! It also rolls up with AWD and weighs in at 1,750kg. Next up we have Auto Torque’s Audi R8. Yianni’s in it, and he’s looking forward to feeling its 5.2-litre NA V10 in action once again! And it’s no surprise, given it delivers 1200hp & 930Nm of torque! It’s also slightly lighter than the GT-R, at 1,650kg. Then finally we have the 720S. Of course, it’s been tuned, so its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 now delivers 1,100hp and 950Nm. It’s easily the lightest car here, at 1,400kg, but it’s got one big disadvantage – it’s only RWD!
