……………………………………………………. It looks like a new BMW 7 Series is in the works… And an all-electric i7 is on the way, too! How do we know this? Well, for starters, we’ve got our hands on some spy shots that show a petrol-powered 7 Series while it’s being tested. Not only that, but BMW has even released official footage of a prototype i7 in testing, so you can bet that’s not too far off, either! That’s not all though – we have our suspicions that either an M7 or i7M could also be in the works! But which will it be? Well given the recent unveiling of the hybrid XM concept, we think there’s a strong chance a hybrid 7 Series could be on the way. And if it mirrors what the XM was packing, that means we’ll see a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 coupled with an electric motor to produce 750hp! So which would you prefer, the 7 Series, or an i7? ……………………………………………………. This is the new Volkswagen Polo! Well, we say new, but it’s more ‘updated’ than all new. The question is, can the Polo stand out against competitors like the Ford Fiesta, Audi A1 & SEAT Ibiza? Well, it’s time to find out! Let’s start off with the design. And let’s face it, even if it’s been updated, it’s still instantly recognisable as a Polo. In terms of what’s new compared to the old edition, well at the back you’ll find some new taillights and a redesigned rear bumper, while upfront you’ve got yet another redesigned bumper, along with a daytime running light strip! The updates don’t end there, though! Once you take a step inside, you’ll find an all-new steering wheel, coupled with a new climate control system (the same as found in the ID.3) and a digital driving display as standing! When it comes to performance, the range-topper (without upgrading to the Polo GTI) comes equipped with a 1-litre turbo petrol that can deliver 110hp. So what do you think – does it warrant the £18,000 starting price? And should you really spend that much when there are so many other small hatchbacks available at the moment? Now we’re sure we don’t need to tell you, but both of these cars are absolutely epic! Starting with the GT500, it’s powered by a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 that can put down 760hp & 850Nm of torque. It drives the rear wheels and tips the scales at around 1,900kg. Next up, we have the CS850. Now, this arrives with a 5-litre V8, however, it’s been tuned… so along with a supercharger being added, it’s had a whole load of other work done, including work on both the suspension and brakes. As a result, it now produces 850hp & 900Nm! However, the Shelby has one key advantage… It’s automatic, while the CS850 is manual! Will that prove the difference? ……………………………………………………. Introducing the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe! It’s the 4 door edition of the 4 Series, and Mat’s on hand to see if this ‘coupe’ 4-door has enough to convince you to spend a bit extra and choose it instead of the 3 Series! Starting with the exterior design, as you’d expect there’s a sloping roof from the back seats through to the rear, and a number of minor (yet oh-so-good) features that stand it out compared to the 3 Series, such as frameless door windows at the back! Otherwise, the design is largely reminiscent of the regular 4 Series. Under the bonnet, it’s no surprise that there isn’t much to separate either car. If you get your hands on the M440i edition, as we have here, you’ll find a 3-litre turbo straight-six under the bonnet that can deliver 374hp. So there’s no denying it looks great, and the performance is more than adequate, but should you really choose one when the starting price is £9,000 more than what you’d pay for an entry-level 3 Series?! You’d better stick with Mat and find out for yourself! Chapters
