So the question is – does it live up to the hype?! Well for starters, it’s no surprise that people are excited about this car given that it looks absolutely stunning! The unique headlight & taillight designs are great, and the alloy wheels look awesome! But the great looks don’t stop there – once you step inside, the minimalist interior looks really modern, and you’ll find high-quality materials throughout the cabin. So it’s all well & good with the looks… And performance isn’t that bad either! The range-topper is powered by dual electric motors and a 73kWh battery, which combine to produce 305hp. You’ll also be able to hit a claimed range just shy of 300 miles! Prices start at £37,000, rising to around £50,000. Mat and Yianni have joined forces in a Scania R500 low-loader. It’s powered by a huge 13-litre engine which can deliver 500hp. But that’s not all though… They’ve loaded it up with both a skip & a grab lorry! Combined, this 3-in-1 behemoth weighs a colossal 44 tonnes! Lining up beside them we have Daniel from Ashville Aggregates in a Liebher 566 loading shovel. It weighs a lot less than the Scania, at 24 tonnes, but its 10.5-litre engine only delivers 280hp. Mat’s got his hands on the latest version of Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell-powered saloon to see if it’s really worth considering over the best-in-class petrol, diesel & EV powered competitors out there! To kick things off, there’s no denying that the latest generation looks much better than its predecessor. The eagle-eyed viewers out there will notice similarities with the LS upfront… And it’s no surprise, given it’s based on the same platform! Anyone who splashes out on the range-topper will also be treated to some gorgeous alloy wheels. So it looks good, but don’t expect the Mirai to go breaking any performance records anytime soon! The hydrogen fuel cell powers an electric motor to deliver 182hp & 300Nm of torque. So it’s not exactly sluggish, but when you consider prices start from £50,000, that’s not that far off the price of a Tesla Model 3 Performance! Mat’s in the Hyundai i20N, and he’s lining up against the Ford Fiesta ST and VW Polo GTI! So how do they compare on paper? Well first up we have the i20N, which is powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to provide 204hp & 275Nm of torque. It also weighs in at 1,190kg. Alongside the Hyundai we have the Fiesta ST. Its smaller 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine puts down 200hp & 290Nm, and it’s a touch heavier than the i20N, with a weight of 1,255kg. Then finally we have the VW Polo GTI. It’s hiding a larger 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine under the bonnet, with a power output of 200hp & 320Nm. It’s also a bit heavier than its competitors, topping the scales at 1,335kg. So, which of these FWD hatchbacks will come out on top?
