This is Peugeot’s finished 9X8 endurance racing Hypercar, and yes, there’s still no rear wing. Peugeot reckons it can generate enough ground effect with clever under-body aero alone. Pretty impressive considering the 9X8 is a 671bhp endurance racer that weighs just over a tonne… The 9X8 conforms to the ACO and FIA’s Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) class and is four-wheel drive, with a 2.6-litre twin-turbo V6 powering the rear wheels and a bespoke, high performance electric motor on the fronts. Koenigsegg has built a new car that looks like its oldest one. Welcome to the CC850: a 1,385hp hypercar with a very complicated manual/automatic gearbox, all clothed in the timeless design of Koenigsegg’s first ever production car. That’s the CC8S, providing ample proof of its ageless design concept because it looks just as fresh today as it did back in 2002. This new car celebrates 20 years since it first took flight, as well as the boss' 50th birthday. The CC850 achieves a 1:1 power to weight ratio with 1385hp (on E85) and a 1385 kg kerb weight. Oh, and did we forget to mention the perfect 1385 Nm @ 4800rpm for a full house? This isn’t just a top-of-the-range BMW. The company has only used ‘CSL’ three times in its entire history. The CSL badge matters, and it’s reserved for deeply special cars… The last few hardcore M cars haven’t been deemed worthy, but now BMW says the time is right for the successor to the CSL dynasty. A road car, not a track car like the recent GTS models: this is supposed to be less about lap times, and more about thrills. A 50th anniversary birthday present to the M Division, and potentially a last hurrah for the M car as we know it, before electrification invades for good. The figures are impressive: 542bhp from a 3.0-litre 6cyl turbo makes the M4 CSL capable of 0-60mph 3.7 sec with a top speed of 190mph.
