As a European I remain fiercely devoted to the cause, which is why I was exceedingly pleased to be offered a first drive of Audi’s very special edition of the RS6, the GT Avant. The 2024 Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend Pit Stop Challenge will feature a six-team competition, showcasing the speed and precision of the world-class pit crews whose performance often makes the difference between winning and losing every race weekend in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Drivers and teams participating in this year's challenge include:
* Will Power and the No. 12 Team Penske Chevrolet team,
* Sting Ray Robb and the No. 41 A.J. Foyt Enterprises Chevrolet team,
* Jack Harvey and the No. 18 Dale Coyne Racing Honda team, * Nolan Siegel and the No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet team, * David Malukas and the No. 66 Meyer Shank Racing Honda team, and
* Defending Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend Pit Stop Challenge winner Christian Lundgaard and the No. 45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda team In Round 1, the top three teams by time will advance in the competition. In the Semifinals, the 2nd and 3rd fastest times in Round 1 will square off, with the winner advancing to the finals against the fastest time in Round 1 for a best 2-of-3 matchup with each team fighting to win the $20,000 grand prize awarded to the fastest crew on pit road. The runner-up team will earn $10,000, while the other four teams will each win $5,000 in prize money. The question is, how much has it changed over the previous car? One of the biggest changes isn’t visible from the outside of the car. It’s now fitted with adaptive dampers, so when you go into track mode it allows you to adjust the power distribution – perfect for if you’re looking to pull some skids! When it comes to the design, it’s all pretty similar to the previous car. Up front, there are some new headlights, as well as a redesigned front bumper and the inclusion of a splitter. Along the side, the looks are pretty much identical, and at the rear, there’s a carbon fibre boot lip spoiler, and there’s also an updated bumper and diffuser. Step inside, and once again it’s all pretty similar. There’s a big screen on the dash (as always) coupled with some carbon fibre effect material, while there's also a new pair of sports seats. There are also no stalks on the steering wheel – indicators are now controlled by buttons instead! Apart from that, it’s all pretty identical to the previous car. One key change for this car is the addition of a new, higher-performance motor on the rear axle. As a result, the new Model 3 Performance can now produce 460hp! It’s fitted with the same 75kWh battery pack as before, which is apparently good for a range of up to 328 miles.
