It’s time for an almighty hot hatch dyno test! We’ve got our hands on four of the most popular hot hatches you can buy in 2023, and we’re about to find out just how accurate the manufacturers’ performance figures are in reality! So let’s look at the line-up. First up it’s the Volkswagen Golf R, which is powered by a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine that can apparently put down 320hp and 420Nm of torque. Next up it’s the BMW, with a 3-litre straight-six turbo under the bonnet that’s good for 374hp and 500Nm. Third in the line-up is the Audi RS3 saloon. It comes with a glorious 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo, which is good for 400hp and 500Nm. And finally, we have the most powerful car in the line-up, the AMG A45 S. It’s equipped with a 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo which should be producing 421hp and 500Nm. Will any cars outperform their claimed figures? Or even worse, will any underperform?!
