Despite his youthful appearance, Max is one of the first team members at Rivian and has been a part of their EV journey for 10+ years. He was hired right out of engineering school by Rivian founder RJ Scaringe, back when the goal was *not* an EV truck. In his time with Rivian, he has leveraged his engineering expertise to lead the coordination and integration of several vehicle subsystems within the Rivian R1T and R1S, so they work in concert to deliver the electric trucks impressive on- and off-road performance. Max was instrumental in developing the R1 platform and getting the R1T and R1S to market. It's an entertaining episode, as we cover how Max arrived at Rivian, some of the key decisions made around both the R1T and R1S, the state of the EV space (including cold weather and towing performance of electric trucks) and of course, what Max does (and drives) in his spare time.
