The question is, does the new Porsche 911 Carrera have what it takes to bring down the tuned Shelby GT 350? Let’s take a closer look at the stats. Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo flat-six that produces 394hp and 450Nm of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and the car tips the scales at 1,520kg. As new, this 911 will set you back around £100,000. Then we come to the Shelby. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8, which normally produces 526hp and 582Nm. However, in this instance, it’s been tuned, and it now puts down 600hp and 597Nm! Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual, and it weighs in at 1,680kg. As new in 2019, this car would set you back around £50,000. So the Shelby is well up on power, but it’s packing a manual transmission! Will that prove decisive?
