If you're lucky, the lifters are just dirty, and haven't collapsed or failed yet, so you can try this easy fix! Andy shows you how to briefly run transmission fluid through your engine, which has additional detergents in it to help clean out places like the tight oil passages in Active Fuel Management lifters. This trick should help if the AFM lifters aren't damaged yet. If they are, you'll probably still need to replace them. Also, this trick doesn't work for bearing noise, and other engine problems.
