I tested the New v Old Civic Type R… and found which is best!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCs1VGc2qyY

The Honda Civic Type R is one of the most popular & recognisable hot hatches in the world! And following the release of the new FL5, we need to find out whether the latest generation is an improvement on the previous edition. Well, let’s look at what’s changed. When it comes to the design, the FK8 had a reputation for being a bit outlandish, with a huge rear wing as well as an over-the-top front and rear end. In contrast, the FL5 has a much more simple, refined look. Sure it comes with a rear wing, but overall the car looks more sophisticated than before. It’s a similar story on the inside, with a more simple & traditional interior to be found in the FL5. It also comes with super comfy sports seats, and the digital dials display is definitely an improvement on the old edition. However, we would say that the placement of some elements, such as the infotainment system, is definitely better in the FK8. When it comes to performance, both cars come with the same 2-litre 4-cylinder engine. However, whereas the old edition produced 320hp and 400Nm, the new edition pumps out a slightly improved 329hp and 420Nm! It all sounds like the FL5 is a slam-dunk success, right? Well, you have to keep in mind that it starts from an eye-watering £47,000 – £12,000 more than the FK8! So is it worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat and see for yourself! I Drag Raced a BMW M5 E39 v Alpinas!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfP8xhVsnd8

Who’s ready for an almighty BMW v Alpina drag race?! We’ve got Mat lining up in an Alpina B10 S, and he’s about to go head-to-head against an E39 M5 and a regular Alpina B10! So let’s see how these legendary saloons compare. Starting with the B10 S, it’s powered by a 4.8-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that can produce 380hp and 510Nm of torque. It powers the rear wheels only, and it tips the scales at 1,690kg. As you’d expect, the regular B10 arrives with very similar stats. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4.6-litre naturally-aspirated V8, which can put down 340hp and 470Nm. It also powers the rear wheels, but it’s also slightly lighter, coming in at 1,660kg. Then finally we have the E39 M5. It’s equipped with a 4.9-litre naturally-aspirated V8 which can produce 400hp and 500Nm. So it’s the most powerful car here, but it has two disadvantages. Not only is it the heaviest car here, at 1,795kg, but it’s also the only manual car in this line-up! Will the lack of an automatic gearbox prove to be its downfall? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE! Thanks to @BenCollinsDrives for joining us! Thanks to everyone for lending us their cars: Alpina B10 S: https://www.instagram.com/maybachman
