……………………………………………………. It’s time for a showdown between three of Mat’s favourite cars! He’s in one of his favourite SUV’s, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, and it’s going up against his favourite coupe/sports car, the M4, and his favourite performance estate, the RS6! What’s more, despite all three cars being in different categories, they’re actually all pretty similar under the skin! Starting with the Alfa, it’s powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 which can deliver 510hp and 600Nm. It’s also not too heavy considering it’s an SUV, weighing in at 1,830kg. The M4’s up next, and with a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet, it can produce 510hp and 650Nm. It’s also not that much lighter than the Stelvio, tipping the scales at 1,730kg. Then finally we have the RS6. It delivers the most power of the three contenders, with its 4-litre twin-turbo V8 putting down 600hp & 800Nm, but it’s easily the heaviest car here, coming in at 2,075kg. The smaller battery has a claimed range of 273 miles and can produce 224hp, whilst the larger one offers 335 miles on a single charge and 231hp. It’s an EV concept that is expected to help form the design & performance of future Audi electric cars, and it’s packing some seriously cool and crazy tech! For starters, it allows you to change the size of the wheelbase! For example, if you stick it in autonomous GT mode, it’ll extend the wheelbase to offer you a more relaxing drive. But then if you’re looking to put the pedal to the metal and enter sports mode, it’ll shorten the size again to improve performance if you're looking to travel at speed. How cool is that?! When it comes to overall performance, the Skysphere is powered by one electric motor which will deliver 632hp & 750Nm – 224hp more than the RWD Taycan! It’ll also hit 60mph in 4 seconds, so it can give the RS e-tron GT a run for its money!
