Change your car with Carwow: https://bit.ly/Change-Your-Car-1704 It’s time for a showdown between two of the best mid-sized electric SUVs you can buy in 2025 – the Tesla Model Y vs the BYD Sealion! The question is, which will come out on top in this all-new group test? Let’s take a closer look at the two contenders. The new Model Y has been updated both inside & out compared to the previous model. On the outside, there’s a Cybertruck-inspired front light bar, new alloy wheel designs, and a redesigned rear bumper, coupled with an illuminated Tesla badge. On the inside, it’s still much of the same as in the old car, apart from a few minor tweaks and changes. Thankfully, there’s also still a stalk for the indicator, unlike in the new Model 3! In terms of price, the Model Y range starts from £44,990, rising to £52,000 for the top-of-the-range edition. The car we have here is the long-range edition, which has dual motors for AWD, 507hp, 494Nm, and a weight of 1,995kg. As for the BYD Sealion, it has a pretty imposing look from the outside, with large air intakes on either side of the front bumper. Around the back, there’s a small boot lip spoiler, as well as a full-length light bar. On the inside, there’s a number of differences to the Tesla. There’s leatherette throughout the cabin that gives it a smart feel, while there are a number of physical buttons and a drive mode select lever. There’s a large infotainment screen that can rotated, and the BYD also comes with a set of digital dials. The BYD starts from £47,000, rising to around £59,000 for the range-topping edition. We had the dual motor Excellence edition for this test, which delivers 530hp and 690Nm, and weighs in at 2,420kg. The long-term trip computers on these cars recorded energy consumption figures of 3.7 miles per kWh in the Tesla, and 2.5 miles per kWh in the BYD. The Tesla's 75kWh battery means it should manage around 278 miles on a full charge, while the BYD's 91.3kWh battery should deliver around 228 miles. So will the BYD come out on top? Audi is expanding its A6 model series with a classic business Sedan. Its drag coefficient of 0.23 is the best value for a combustion-engine production model in Audi history. Modern gasoline and diesel engines with MHEV plus mild hybrid technology ensure increased efficiency with improved performance. In combination with sophisticated suspension technologies, the A6 Sedan impresses with its qualities for everyday and long-distance driving: both the adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering combine driving comfort and agile handling to the highest degree. The drives with mild-hybrid technology MHEV plus play a major role in the outstanding driving experience. In addition to the 2.0 TDI four-cylinder engine with 150 kW (204 PS), the 3.0 TFSI six-cylinder engine with 270 kW (367 PS) also features this type of partial electrification. The MHEV plus system supports the combustion engine, enhances performance and driving comfort, and reduces CO2 emissions. It enables fully electric parking and maneuvering. The A6 Sedan also runs on electric power when driving slowly in the city, in slow-moving traffic, or outside city limits when coasting to the next village. Furthermore, the MHEV plus technology generates an additional drive torque of up to 230 Newton meters and up to 18 kW (24 PS) of power when starting off or overtaking. Let’s take a closer look… Starting with the Cybertruck, it’s the dual-motor edition. This means it produces 608hp, with this power being sent to all four wheels. It’s absolutely colossal, weighing in at 3,009kg, and to import it to the UK it cost Yianni around £150,000. As for the Porsche, it’s powered by a 3-litre turbocharged flat-six that puts down 394hp and 450Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed auto gearbox, and it weighs in at 1,520kg. It’s a true one of one, with the traditional Jimny now converted into a pick-up truck! The question is, is it any better than the standard Jimny? Mat’s about to find out. Starting with the design, the front is pretty much identical to the standard car. Some of the trim has been spray-painted, but otherwise it looks the same. Move around to the side, and of course the most noticeable thing is the newly introduced load bed! The load bed was created with the rear end of another Jimny, so the new edition really works with the look and feel of the rest of the car. The addition of roll bars also helps give the car even more presence. On the inside, the design is all but the same as the standard car, however in this instance there is leather trim throughout. The finish on some bits may not be great, but overall it looks really smart. Unfortunately, though, the addition of the load bed means the boot is pretty much inaccessible, unless you fold down the rear seats. The engine is the same as the standard car, which means it’s powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol that produces 101hp and 130Nm. This edition weighs in at 300kg more than the standard Jimny, so it may take a while to hit 60mph… The Jimny 6×4 is available to buy NOW for £44,995! But would you choose it over the standard Jimny?
