The question is, is it an improvement over the regular G-wagon? And does it warrant the eye-watering £300,000 starting price?! For starters, let’s check out the design. As with any Brabus, it comes with even wider wheel arches than the standard G and redesigned front and rear bumpers. It also comes with several Brabus badges in place of where you would normally find a Mercedes 3-pointed star, and there are a whole load of fake vents around the wheel arches, as well as a huge scoop on the bonnet that leads absolutely nowhere! Step inside and the G700 is all pretty similar to the regular G63. The only difference you’ll find are the green inserts on the seats, as well as many Brabus logos throughout. But otherwise, you wouldn’t know you're in a Brabus instead of an AMG! One area where there’s been a big change is the engine! Under the bonnet, you’ll still find a a 4-litre twin-turbo V8, but it’s had a new ECU fitted, so as a result it now puts down 700h and 950Nm! This power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox. So it’s about as in-your-face as it gets, but is it really worth around £100,000 more than a regular AMG G63? Mat’s got his hands on this new drop-top GT, and he’s about to see how this car has evolved compared to the DB11 Volante, while also seeing if it can compare with class leaders like the Roma Spider! For starters, let’s check out the exterior design, and it’s no surprise that it looks absolutely fantastic! The rear end may be relatively similar to the DB11, but that’s no bad thing! It’s slightly wider than the previous edition, and the new tail light design looks absolutely great. Along the side, the car comes with 21-inch alloys, and it also comes with pop-out door handles, aggressive side skirts and frameless side mirrors. Along the front, the car has had a total design overhaul. The clamshell bonnet is gone, and it’s instead made of several different panels. There are loads of vents, matrix LED headlights, and the trademark huge grille at the front. Step inside and the interior’s had a total overhaul. There’s an all-new infotainment system, and redesigned centre console with loads of physical buttons and rollers, and naturally the interior is covered in swathes of leather and aluminium panels. The seats are also super comfortable, but don’t expect adults to fit into the rear seats! Under the bonnet, you’ll find an AMG 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can produce 680hp and 800Nm of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and Aston Martin claims it can hit 60mph in 3.6 seconds. The all-new DB12 Volante starts from £205,000, but is it worth it?
