Electrification is clearly the future for small city runarounds. However, some manufacturers are looking to the past for design cues – in a good way… The Honda e has dinky dimensions and doe eyes, reminiscent of its 80s ancestor, the Honda City. Underneath its retro exterior, it has a 35.5kWh battery and an electric motor that produces 152bhp. The Fiat 500 Electric looks like… well, a Fiat 500 – a tried and tested shape which has barely changed since the 50s. It doesn't have as much power as its Japanese rival (116bhp) but it does come in almost 200kgs lighter. These arent The Stig's standard track weapons of choice, but they should make for an interesting race. This is the Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1; not to be confused with the regular road-going hatchback with a paltry 155bhp. But you wouldn't, would you, because this one has been specially built by legendary British rally engineers M-Sport to compete in the World Rally Championship’s new era of hybrid racing. With its 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine boosted with a battery-powered electric motor, the Puma Hybrid Rally1 produces north of 500bhp.
