We made it look presentable at SEMA with simple aesthetics like new headlights and a fresh grill but now we need to make it run as good as it looks! The definition of a party car is something that makes a load of horsepower, has multiple passenger seats and can get smashed on ENDLESSLY. So we added 3 radiators just for the 6.2L Supercharged V8 Hellcat engine and we figured the supercharger deserves a cooling system of it’s own because this thing will indeed be living on the limiter! Fear is something F1 drivers don’t often admit to feeling. Pedro Diniz does. In his 98 Grands Prix during the 1990s, the Brazilian experienced the highs of hard earned top-six points finishes, and was a match for teammates Jean Alesi and Damon Hill. But, as he tells Tom Clarkson in a rare interview, lucky escapes from a fireball in Argentina and an upside-down car in Germany left a deep impression. ‘The biggest challenge was really the challenge of my mind’, Pedro says. How do fear and the immense pressure of racing in Formula 1 affect a driver’s performance? How can meditation and yoga help a racer go faster? Pedro tells all. He also remembers first encounters with Kimi Raikkonen and Rubens Barrichello at the very start of their racing careers, and explains his post-racing passion for producing organic food. Mat’s rolled up to the start line a Porsche Cayman GTS, and he’s going head-to-head with an Alpine A110 S & a Toyota Supra! So let’s see how they compare. Starting with Mat’s Cayman GTS, it’s powered by a 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six that puts down 400hp & 420Nm. It weighs in at 1,405kg and will cost you around £65,000. It’s got one big issue though – it’s a manual! Alongside him, we have the Alpine A110 S. Under the bonnet you’ll find a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine, although it’s noticeably down on power compared to the Porsche, putting down 290hp & 320Nm. However, it’s an automatic, and it’s oh-so light, tipping the scales at just 1,114kg! Then finally we have the Supra. With a 3-litre straight-six BMW engine under the bonnet, it’ll produce 340hp & 500Nm, and just like the Alpine, it’s automatic. It’s the heaviest car here, though, weighing 1,495kg.
