Stig Laps are back! That’s right, The Stig is once again roaming free at Dunsfold, and in this new eight-part series we’ve gathered, well, eight cars of course, to set new timed Power Laps at the Top Gear Test Track. Up first is the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack. It’s the slower-in-a-straight-line variation of the Jesko, as the Absolut version is wingless and faster flat-out. Yet that’s good here, because this Attack version boasts up to 1400kg of downforce, and with 1578bhp as well, that makes it a very tasty track weapon indeed. However, can it get near the current road-legal lap record holder, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, which blitzed around in 1 min 11.3 seconds? This is the Type 00, a concept car that represents a hard reset for the Jaguar brand. Why? Well, Jag’s in such trouble it’s stopped selling cars until 2026 while it reboots with a range of high-end EVs that will chase Bentley buyers and the like. We’ll see the first production car under this new philosophy – an electric four-door GT – in late 2025, but for now, the Type 00 represents the line in the sand between Jaguar of old and what’s to come. ‘Exuberant Modernism’ is the name of the design language that the Type 00 ushers in, as Jaguar promises future models will ‘Copy Nothing’. The 1048bhp Mercedes AMG One is the production car lap record holder at the Nürburgring… and yet, despite being over 500bhp down on it, the current Porsche 911 GT3 RS would be nipping at its heels all the way around the iconic track. With pace like that, you don’t really need to go faster, do you? Well, Manthey thinks so. And as such, it’s given us this: the Manthey Performance Kit for Porsche’s track monster. It’s Manthey’s most in-depth upgrade to date, as it must take on the GT3 RS’s trick suspension and clever active aero and go one better. But wait, before you get sniffy about a tuned Porsche, remember that Manthey is 51% owned by Porsche, so this is essentially a factory car. Manthey and Porsche’s GT department use the same test driver, for instance, and you can buy the new kit through Porsche dealerships. That, and Manthey is Porsche racing royalty, with multiple class wins at Le Mans, and is just coming off the back of its 911s finishing first and second in the LMGT3 category in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.
