This is the turbocharged Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, and it’s quite a thing! As with all Singer’s restoration services for the Porsche 911, the process takes the 964 generation of rear-engined, air-cooled cars as its starting point, but the big news on this one is an evolution of the ‘Mezger’ flat-six, now in 3.8-litre from and featuring twin turbochargers. Owners can specify 450bhp or 510bhp, paired with a manual six-speed gearbox, and personalise their car’s character towards grand touring or sports driving as they wish. But whatever their preference, the gorgeous, bespoke carbonfibre body remains, as does Singer’s exquisite attention to detail. Wow, the new Corvette ZR1 is quite something. For a start, one thousand and sixty-four horsepower is nothing short of A LOT. In fact, it’s nearly 400 more than the Corvette Z06, and higher than the likes of the Ferrari SF90 XX, let alone hybrid-assisted hypercars such as the McLaren P1, LaFerrari and Porsche 918. And yet, all that power comes from a solitary 5.5-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, with not a jot of a hybrid system in sight. This is the ultimate incarnation of the third-generation Ford GT – and a homage to the Mk IV iteration of the original GT40, which won Le Mans in 1967. Fittingly, this new Mk IV is a track-only, pseudo-race car, of which just 67 will be built, at a price of $1.7m each. It shares its carbonfibre chassis with the GT road car and 2016 Le Mans-winning LMGTE Pro race car, but the brakes are new, the ‘longtail’ body is new and the EcoBoost V6 has been enlarged to 3.8 litres. Together with new turbos and a host of other engine changes, peak power rises to a plentiful 800bhp.
