Derestricted £1.3m, 200mph Formula E Car | Top Gear

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPnmFs7yzHk

There’s nothing quite like a racing car that’s allowed to break the rules which govern it. Enter the GenBeta – based off the current Gen 3 racer, it’s a potential test bed for where Formula E goes next. Four-wheel drive, for starters. The front motor-generator, which is usually only on power harvesting duty, is allowed to contribute some grunt here, so thanks to an uprated battery this £1.3m one-off generates over 530bhp and gets off the line faster on softer, stickier tyres. Handy, when you want to shatter the indoor land speed world record. Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:

15 Contenders, Only 1 Winner! Meet The Stars Of Top Gear Speed Week 2023

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYsxqj70SDE

Speed Week is Top Gear magazine's annual performance car of the year test. A gathering of the greatest fast cars from the last year, brought together in one place (this year it’s the Gotlandring track in Sweden, but it could be anywhere in the world) for a week of road and track testing, photography and video production and very little sleep. The goal is to separate the great from the merely good and, eventually, pick an overall winner. This year, we have 15 contenders vying for the title, including the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, Porsche 911 Dakar, Honda Civic Type R, Ariel Atom 4R, Alpine A110 R, Lotus Emira I4, BMW M2, BMW M3 Touring, Hyundai Ioniq 5N, Abarth 500e, Toyota GR86, McLaren Artura, Polestar 2 BST Edition 270, and even a Formula E car! Top Gear Magazine’s Jack Rix provides us with all the details, but in the end, only one car will be crowned as the Performance Car of the Year. Be sure to grab a copy of the magazine to discover which one that is!

The Greatest Performance Cars of 2023: DRIVEN! | Top Gear

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8os-jMP0HY

15 contenders, seven wind turbines, five barrels of biofuel, many sets of tyres… it’s time for TG Magazine's annual festival of fast! Speed Week is the highlight of Top Gear Magazine’s year. This year getting 15 cars (wonderfully juicy things including the Lamborghini Sterrato, Porsche GT3 RS, Honda Civic Type R, BMW M2, Hyundai Ioniq 5N, McLaren Artura, Formula E car and many, many more) and 16 journalists, photographers and videographers to an island off the east coast of Sweden, finding somewhere to sleep, things to eat and producing a library’s worth of the world’s greatest car content over the course of a few days was a logistical cluster bomb. But we did it. And with a nod to our carbon footprint. It won’t have escaped your attention that wildfires are raging, dams are bursting and even the UK has been melting in near 40°C heat. Fixing these problems, or at least stemming the tide of climate change, is the responsibility of all of us, which is how the plan to try to decarbonise Speed Week came about. The idea wasn’t to carry on as normal and then pay a third party to plant some trees on our behalf but to look at our own actions and reduce our carbon footprint where possible. So we went to a sustainable race track, used the latest in trucking tech to get cars there, fuelled them with biofuel, used EVs as support cars, charged them with the wind, stayed communally and ate locally. Turns out it’s not an exact science, and we had to travel to Sweden to find the perfect venue, but we hope we’ve proved it’s possible to still enjoy the cars we love, while treading a little lighter on our planet. Now watch some cars do some skids. #TGSpeedWeek2023 Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:
