FIRST DRIVE: Polestar 4 – No Back Window, But Why?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4Qgo_fgdGI

What’s even more odd than Polestar’s naming convention, which orders its cars not by class, but when they go on sale? Why, it’s to give the new Polestar 4 (which sits in price and size between the Polestar 2 and 3 – go figure) no rear window whatsoever. It’s rather anti-dog, but that feature – together with a silhouette that’s more raised saloon than lowered SUV – does help the Polestar 4 stand out against electric rivals. But is it enough to challenge the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche? Top Gear Magazine’s Associate Editor, Tom Ford, has been to find out… Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:

FIRST DRIVE: McLaren Solus GT – 858bhp V10, Single-Seat Hypercar!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LmYy1CK6vM

The McLaren Solus GT is a computer-game fantasy car made real. It started life in the virtual world of Gran Turismo back in 2017, but with rivals like Aston Martin, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Red Bull getting in on the track-only hypercar market, McLaren needed to up its game from the Senna GTR. Enter the real-life Solus GT. There have been many changes from the virtual Vision GT to IRL Solus GT and – from our point of view – they’re all good. The biggest and most pivotal is the switch from the familiar McLaren twin-turbocharged V8 (plus make-believe electric motors for the front wheels) to a pure rear-driven configuration with a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine that revs to 10,000rpm. It produces 829bhp – or 858bhp with a ram-air effect at higher speeds. Beyond that, the tub is carbon fibre, the suspension is double-wishbones all round and, oh, did we mention it’s a single, central-seat layout?! Just 25 Solus GTs will be built and, of course, they’re all sold, at north of £3m each. Over to Top Gear’s Contributing Editor, Jethro Bovingdon, for a taste of the billionaire lifestyle at the glorious Circuit of the Americas racetrack, in Texas, USA. Rimac Robotaxi! Bugatti CEO’s ‘Verne’ Ready To Take On Tesla

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dinYBGoQ0HA

What does Mate Rimac – the Bugatti CEO who’s currently in the limelight for launching a new hypercar with a V16 engine – do in his spare time? Why, he teams up with a couple of buddies to solve the thorny issue of autonomous ride-hailing services of course. Enter Verne, a new company that Rimac and co. have founded to: design and build a fully autonomous electric vehicle that offers Rolls-Royce levels of luxury; to re-envision ride-hailing apps with added personalisation; and to create the infrastructure that keeps these ‘cars’ clean and charged and running nearly 24/7. Now, you might scoff, but the rise of Rimac (both that of the company and its founder) has been meteoric, going from unheard of Croatian start-up to a supplier of batteries and motors to the likes of BMW and Porsche. Mate himself is now CEO of Bugatti, too. Will Verne be another homerun for Rimac? Has it stolen a march on Tesla’s forthcoming robotaxi? Top Gear’s Associate Editor, Tom Ford, has been to Croatia to find out… CHAPTERS 00:00 Intro

Top Gear Australia: Full Episode!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGolAWb3SJ4

The all-new Top Gear Australia – with all-new presenters – is here! Yes, Paramount+ has announced that the all-new series of TG Australia – featuring an all-new line-up of Blair Joscelyne, Beau Ryan and Jonathan LaPaglia – is now available to stream in Australia. The eight-part series sees Blair, Beau and JLP hitting the road in Australia, and in many places that aren’t Australia. Highlights include the trio testing out the Ferrari 296 GTS, Maserati MC20 Cielo and Pagani Huayra Codalunga on an Italian road trip, tackling a coffee run across the Colombian jungle, racing the new Lotus Eletre from Monaco to St Tropez against a very expensive boat, and taking on the wintery Alps in the Porsche 911 Dakar, Aston Martin DBX707 and Brabus Superblack 900. There are worse jobs. Back home, the presenters will be putting some of the finest, fastest new cars – including the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and Toyota GR Corolla – through their paces out on track. And, of course, going head-to-head in a bunch of knackered second-hand cars, bought for a very small amount of Aussie dollars. Want to see more? Well, thanks to Paramount+, you can watch a full sample episode right here (it's episode 4, since you asked) and then head to the following link to stream the full series https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/top-gear-australia/ Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:

FIRST LOOK: New 717bhp BMW M5 – The Boss is Back… But Hybrid

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tvo9fSMYM5s

This is the new BMW M5. That’s BIG NEWS, because this is both the halo offering from BMW’s M Division, and the super-saloon that’s long been the swaggering king of the jungle with enough nous to see off the likes of whatever rivals Mercedes AMG or Audi RS could cook up. The first signs appear promising for this new-gen M5 too, with a twin-turbo V8 powertrain offering 717bhp and 737lb ft, plus an updated version of the switchable M xDrive chassis tech, which offers sensible 4wd, rear-biased 4wd and showboating rear-drive. But… the M5 is now a hybrid. Which brings a power boost – as the V8 alone is good for only 577bhp and 553lb ft – but also some weight gain. Okay, a lot of weight gain, as this isn’t a new Porsche 911 GTS-style small battery, fast discharge/fast recharge set-up. Rather, it’s a plug-in hybrid with a 22.1kWh battery and an EV range of over 40 miles. Before there’s a driver onboard, it’s 2,435kg… So, can it be any good? Alongside time in an echoey studio with a static BMW M5, Top Gear Magazine’s Deputy Editor, Ollie Kew, has also been behind the wheel of a pre-production prototype. Over to him… Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:
