The Greatest Private Race Track In The World?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ5_drme2gE

The über rich always need somewhere to play with their latest track toys, and now there’s a new high-end ‘driving resort’ recently opened in Japan that aims to best those already in business in Europe and the USA. It’s called the Magarigawa Club and there’s a race track, obviously, and an on-site fuel station to minimise time away from the circuit, plus fully crewed workshops, a temperature-controlled storage facility for hundreds of cars, and a helipad. So far, so ultra-high-net-worth. But this billionaire’s playground caters to its clients – and their families – away from the track as well, with traditional Japanese hot spring bathing, a top-tier gym and yoga studio, a kids’ creche complete with miniature Bugatti pedal cars, and a dog park for one’s pup. And this is Japan, so there’s even a (soundproofed) karaoke room too. Join TG’s Tom Ford for a tour of this automotive theme park aimed at the 0.01%. FIRST LOOK: New Renault 5! £25k Retro EV Hatch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GstRLGwlFUQ

It’s finally here! In simplest terms, the new 5 is Renault’s B-segment electric replacement for the Zoe. But actually, it’s much more than that – it’s the beginning of Renault lighting the retro EV afterburners with e-incarnations of the 4 and Twingo coming down the pipe. The 5 has barely changed from the 2021 concept that stole our hearts with its retro influences – with Renault claiming the production car is 95 per cent faithful to the original. Three power outputs are available, all single motor and front-wheel drive: 148bhp (181lb ft of torque, 0-62mph in under 8.0secs, top speed 93mph), 118bhp or 94bhp… although the latter probably won’t be offered in the UK. You’ll have the pick of two battery sizes – 52kWh for a range of around 249 miles and 40kWh for a range of circa 186 miles. Max DC charging speed is 100kW, or 30mins from 15 to 80 per cent. Cost? Whilst we don’t have exact figures yet, Renault has said it’ll start ‘from £25k’ but really, how many cars come with an optional baguette holder? Join TG’s Jack Rix for a proper deep dive into the new 5, and a step back in time to his childhood… Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:

New Toyota MR2! FT-Se Concept: Japan’s Porsche Cayman Rival

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxeZN96gyhg

This is the Toyota FT-Se: nothing to do with share indexes, everything to do with driving fun. It’s an electric sports car of course, imagining a near future of what a GR-branded, two-seater lightweight could look like, and what it could offer using next-gen technology. Like Toyota’s clever ‘prismatic’ batteries that offer a greater range and quicker charging over what’s currently available. The idea with the FT-Se is for the all-wheel-drive setup to have a rear-bias, not just for better traction, but also for better cornering, more driver confidence and of course, to allow some sideways lunacy. Sounds good to us. Toyota has indicated the Nürburgring will be one of the key battlegrounds for the FT-Se, and although they’ve not released official figures, we can expect a 0-62mph time of around three seconds and an estimated top speed of 155mph. Top Gear Magazine’s Tom Ford gives us all the details of what could be Toyota’s new MR2. Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:

Old Volvos: Cool or Nah?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPmYQ9Z1G8o

Japan’s car culture is eclectic – but no one expected this! A new niche is emerging… and it involves old Volvo barges. Specifically, Volvo 200 Series ‘bricks’, the matronly saloons and estates that peppered European middle-class driveways from 1974 to the early ‘90s. That's right, the chunky cardigans of the car world have a fan club. And we’re talking stock items here too, none of that modified malarky. Yet it’s that utter ordinariness that makes these Volvoisti smile. They love these cars, and don’t care what anyone else thinks. Time for Top Gear Magazine's Tom Ford to embrace the slow life… Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:

FIRST LOOK: Lucid Gravity SUV + Prototype Drive

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMevPtSTkfg

You'll know Lucid from its ultra-spacious, slippery Air saloon, which can hit 60 in 1.9 seconds and is very probably the best-handling electric family car on sale today. 10 out of 10, no notes. So, how does the new Gravity SUV – Lucid's difficult second album – stack up? Well, it's a little early for a full drive (stick around for a drive of the prototype later in the video) but here's what we do know. It'll use the next generation of Lucid tiny-but mighty bespoke motors. There’s a 900-volt architecture for fast charging speeds, and it'll be able to accelerate to 60mph in less than 3.5sec in the quicker versions. Base models will start from $74k, with 'around 800bhp.' Inside there’s screens galore, and four rows of seats (sort of). All very impressive. All very Tesla, you might think. But what sets Lucid apart? Join TG’s Ollie Kew for a deep-dive into the clever thinking behind the Lucid Gravity. Subscribe to Top Gear for more videos: http://bit.ly/SubscribeToTopGear WATCH MORE TOP GEAR:
