Way back in 2005, we saw the very first fruit from Ferrari's 'XX' programme. That first car, the FXX, was an Enzo like no other. It was modified by Ferrari to be run exclusively on track. You see, Ferrari had the idea to take on board a ‘special group’ of customers in developing future Ferrari road cars. The idea was they’d drive these hyper-realised machines on Ferrari’s terms, and provide important data back to the engineers to inform thinking around what the company could do for its future customer cars, rather than only taking data from its honed, chiselled in-house test drivers. But you can't just be *anybody* and play in the XX club. You have to be a *somebody*. The best of Ferrari's exclusive customer base. Which means many people will never get close to the likes of the FXX, 599XX, SF90 XX, the XX 'Evoluzione' cars or the FXXK. Fortunately, Top Gear is on hand to show you the rarest of the rare. It’s not a road car, but where this thing wants to go, you don’t need… roads. The Ford Bronco DR: a purpose-built off-road racer that Ford describes as a “first-of-its-kind” limited production, Baja 1000 race ready SUV. That’s right, the DR stands for Desert Racer, but It’s not just a Bronco with some stripes on it. There's a full Multimatic FEA-optimised roll cage with integrated tubes and the body panels are made from fibreglass. There’s no air-con, glass, nor any other “interior amenities”. There is however, a 5.0-litre Ford Coyote V8 putting out 'over' 400bhp. The new GMC Hummer EV is not subtle. The $110k Edition 1 model we borrowed for an epic roadtrip in America had three motors – two at the back, one at the front – producing 1,000bhp and 1,200lb ft of torque. It could do 0–62mph in 3.0secs, which is basically as quick as a Ferrari 296 GTB. And that’s not the scary bit. It has a claimed range of 329 miles, which is pretty good, but only because it has a huge 205kWh battery – that’s the same as six Honda es, and it weighs… wait for it… about 4,100kg, equivalent to nine Caterham 170Rs….
